Greater Atlantic Fish Species
Each of the species below is caught in the Northeast waters of the United States. Some are caught mostly in federal waters (3-200 miles from shore) and managed by the New England and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Councils together with NOAA Fisheries. Others are mostly caught in state waters (0-3 miles from shore) and are managed by state fishery management agencies.
Click on the species name for links to our national Fishwatch pages, which provide biological information, fun facts, recipes and more! Click on the regulations link to learn how each species is managed.
