  • Haslam Announces Departure of Richard Roberts

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today announced the departure of Department of Revenue Commissioner Richard Roberts who will leave the administration December 2. Roberts has served as commissioner since 2011. Under his leadership, the department adopted several systems and procedures that have improved services to citizens and businesses, including an updated tax registration and reporting system and a motor vehicle and title registration system. The department also reduced a prior backlog of tax-letter rulings, started a program to identify tax underreporting and underpayment of taxes, and promoted and encouraged electronic tax filing to increase efficiency and promote cost savings.

  • Governor Haslam's 2017-2018 Budget Hearings

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will hold budget hearings for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 on November 7, 8, 21 and 22.

    Haslam, Finance and Administration Commissioner Larry Martin, Chief Operating Officer Greg Adams and State Budget Director David Thurman preside over the hearings, which are streamed live online at tn.gov to give Tennesseans who are unable to attend the ability to watch the budget discussions of each state agency.

    Digital copies of each agency’s presentation will be posted during that particular hearing.

  • Governor Haslam Recognizes Tennessee Veterans 2016

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today joined Tennessee Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder and Major General Terry “Max” Haston from the Tennessee Military Department to recognize five veteran state employees and more than 503,000 Tennessee veterans of all ages and eras.  The Governor’s Veterans Day event was held at the Tennessee Tower Plaza in downtown Nashville.

    “There are 2,425 veterans working in state government and more than 503,000 living in Tennessee,” Haslam said.  “We are grateful that many of these men and women have brought their most positive attributes of military service to help lead and transform state government.”
