Training Directors Committee

The NIH Training Directors Committee is advisory to the Director, Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE), who report to the Deputy Director for Intramural Research (DDIR). It provides advice on policy matters regarding intramural research training programs at the high school, college, postbaccalaureate, predoctoral, medical, and postdoctoral levels. The committee also provides a forum for the exchange of information about training activities and offers input on training goals and objectives, as well as programmatic initiatives. Members are appointed by the DDIR.

In the past the committee has been involved in a variety of issues including the development of a teaching skills course for postdoctoral fellows, review of results from the NIH Fellows Mentoring Survey, development of a postdoctoral on-line application system, and collaborative projects such as the NIH Intramural Database and Postdoctoral Recruitment Form.

In August 2009, the Training Directors Committee approved a Charter to cover its functions and structures.
