Money Follows the Person Technical Assistance

Enacted by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, the Money Follows the Person (MFP) Rebalancing Demonstration is part of a comprehensive, coordinated strategy to assist States, in collaboration with stakeholders, to make widespread changes to their long-term care support systems. With the history and strength of the Real Choice Systems Change grants as a foundation, this initiative assists States in their efforts to reduce their reliance on institutional care while developing community-based long-term care opportunities, enabling the elderly and people with disabilities to fully participate in their communities.

The national contractor, New Editions Consulting, Inc., employs a technical assistance team that emphasizes a customized approach toward assisting grantees with successfully implementing their MFP Demonstration Program. The New Editions team works with each grantee to provide individualized technical assistance on MFP program implementation and design issues. The custom TA is complemented with general TA to promote best practices and provide guidance on MFP quality improvement strategies in the areas of system performance and individual consumer outcomes. Assistance is provided through individual state consultations, teleconferences, webinars, newsletters, peer-to-peer discussion groups and short-term intensive and customized knowledge sharing.
