A cold storage vault at the Central Library of the University of Texas at Arlington -- one of only three like it in Texas -- has ben opened thanks in part to a $300,000 NEH grant. The vault will allow the stable preservation of photo negatives and other items for hundreds of years.

On September 22, President Obama awarded Rudolfo Anaya with a National Humanities Medal, honoring an author who has served as a Latino literary mentor who has created over 40 novels, story collections, poetry volumes and stage plays.

The Hoboken Historical Museum is hosting a 10-part series of events until next May under the rubric "Heaven, Hell or Hoboken" commemorating America's entry into WWI in 1917; the series features historians and veterans as guest lecturers and the hosting of the NEH-supported traveling exhibit "World War I and America."

A new film studies major at Winona State University in Minnesota is being boosted by the addition of a special topics course title "Imagining Tokyo in Global Cinema," inspired by Professor Andrea Wood's attendance of an NEH-funded summer institute on the history of film in Japan this summer.
