Event:  Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory Program Public Forum

Description: OSHA will hold a public forum to discuss proposed interim policies regarding Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Program independence, the initial application process and timeline, and renewal process. OSHA staff is currently re-examining several aspects of the NRTL Program and may propose new or revised guidelines. The meeting will serve as a forum to solicit input from stakeholders concerning specific issues related to the NRTL Program. NRTLs are third-party laboratories that meet OSHA’s requirements for performing safety testing and certification of products used in the workplace. NRTLs test and certify these products to determine whether they conform to appropriate U.S. product-safety standards.

Event:  OSHA Safety Day

Description:   OSHA's Aurora Area Office and Sauk Valley Community College will co-sponsor an "OSHA Safety Day" training conference. More than 300 employees and managers are expected to attend the event, representing a broad range of industries in Illinois, including manufacturing, hospitals, construction and grain. Tracks covering safety issues related to machine guarding, fall protection, electrical work, recordkeeping, and grain bin entry will be offered.

Event:   Special Meeting of Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health

Description: OSHA will hold a special meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health. ACCSH will consider a proposed rule to update OSHA’s standard on accident prevention signs and tags in construction. The standard requires that signs and symbols be visible at all times to warn workers of existing hazards when work is being performed. The updates are based on revisions in the American National Standards Institute consensus standards. For more information, see OSHA’s existing Accident Prevention Signs and Tags standard. The committee will also consider proposed amendments and corrections to OSHA’s Cranes and Derricks standards. ACCSH, established under the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, advises the secretary of labor and assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health on construction standards and policy matters.
