Just Think Twice

Connor Eckhardt was your typical California teen who enjoyed surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. But July 11, 2014 was not your typical day and was the worst day imaginable for Connor and his family. On that day, Connor inhaled one hit, just one hit, of a synthetic drug known as Spice or K2, and slipped into a coma and never woke up again. Connor was just 19 years old at the time of his death.

Laura was an active church youth group member, a star varsity soccer player, and kind to many people. However, a prescription painkiller to treat a sports injury eventually led to her heroin addiction, and ultimately, an overdose on morphine, cocaine and alcohol.

Ian began abusing opioid-based prescription drugs in high school and switched to black-tar heroin because it was cheaper and easier to obtain. After the first time he tried it, he couldn't stop. He went in and out of rehab and tried desperately to become clean, but he eventually overdosed.

Montana and his brothers thought they would have some fun trying LSD for the first time while their parents were out of town. Instead, the freshman football player took a deadly, clandestinely-made synthetic version that killed him.

Daniel's drug problems began in high school with marijuana and alcohol. It later included prescription pills and cocaine, both of which would claim his life.

Efrain began using steroids, under the impression that it would make him bigger, stronger, faster, and earn him the title and recognition he so much desired on the football field.

Mark was a good kid from a caring family. He occasionally drank beer and had tried marijuana on several occasions, but he never let on to his parents that he was also abusing prescription drugs.

One September morning, Ian’s mother found him dead in his bed of an accidental heroin overdose.
