Making Health Care Work Better for Everyone

Since President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law, we’ve made important progress to bring more access to quality, affordable health care. This progress has changed people’s lives, but it’s important to remember that the ACA has always been about more than affordable, quality coverage. It gives us the tools to build a health care system that puts patients at the center.

The future of health care is about better care, where doctors work together and have a full understanding of patients’ needs. It’s smarter, where we pay for what works and spend our money more wisely. And it’s healthier, where we focus on keeping people healthy before they get sick and empower patients to make better decisions about their care. This effort to make health care work better is also known as Delivery System Reform.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has always been about more than affordable, quality coverage. It gives us the tools to build a health care system that puts patients at the center by…

Paying for Quality Care
Changing how doctors and health care systems are paid, so they can focus on making people healthier.

Improving Health Care
Improving how care is delivered, by encouraging better coordination and focusing on wellness and prevention.

Unlocking Data
Unlocking health care data and putting it to work when and where doctors, individuals, and hospitals need it.

A Bill You Can Understand Challenge a design and innovation challenge to solicit new approaches and draw national attention to a common complaint with the health care system: that medical billing is a source of confusion for patients and families.
