Ecological Site Descriptions - An Interdisciplinary and Interagency Effort

       8 Session Webinar Series:

 

Session 1 - Concepts, Classification, Differentiation, and Description of Ecological Sites: History, uses, and relationship of Ecological Sites to soil maps. 

Session 2 - Concepts, Classification, Differentiation, and Description of Ecological Sites: Concepts and components of State-And-Transition Models - resilience, disturbance, and management effects. 

Session 3 - Data Mining; Locating and Analyzing Vegetation Data: Current examples of data mining, analysis and interpretation to facilitate site concept confirmation and understanding of changes in state and community phases. Part 1. 

Session 4 - Data Mining; Locating and Analyzing Vegetation Data: Current examples of data mining, analysis and interpretation to facilitate site concept confirmation and understanding of changes in state and community phases. Part 2. 

Session 5 -Use and Benefits: Experiences utilizing Ecological Site Descriptions as a        standard reference for land management, monitoring, and assessment. Part 1. 

Session 6 - Use and Benefits: Experiences utilizing ecological Site Descriptions as a standard reference for land management, monitoring, and assessment. Part 2. 

Session 7 - Future Opportunities: The Interagency Ecological Site Handbook for Rangelands will be used by the BLM, Forest Service, and NRCS to define, delineate, and describe Ecological Sites on rangelands. This session will focus on how agencies and NGO's can benefit from, and contribute to, this standardized process for Ecological Site Description development. 

Session 8 - Common Standards and Procedures: The Interagency Ecological Site Handbook for Rangelands will be used by the BLM, Forest Service, and NRCS to define, delineate, and describe Ecological Sites on rangelands. This session will focus on how agencies and NGO's can benefit from, and contribute to, this standardized process for Ecological Site Description development.
