BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download)

BARD is a free library service of recorded and braille books and magazines for residents of the United States and to American citizens abroad who are unable to read or use standard printed material because of visual or physical disabilities. BARD is provided by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress, in cooperation with a network of regional and subregional libraries.

If you are a current BARD user, log in at https://nlsbard.loc.gov/mainpage/NLS.

BARD Registration

If you are an NLS patron but are not registered for BARD, follow the instructions at loc.gov/NLS/ApplicationInstructions.html.

Access to BARD Mobile

If you are registered for BARD and want to use BARD Mobile, download it from the iTunes App Store at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bard-mobile/id705229586 or the Google Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.loc.nls.dtb .

Sign Up for Service

If you are not an NLS patron, follow the application instructions at loc.gov/nls/signup.html.
