The Coastal Program in South Carolina is one of 22 coastal programs in the country. Formed in 1995, we primarily work within geographic focus areas that overlay the lower portions of the 5 major coastal watersheds (Winyah Bay, Santee River, CAWS Basin, ACE Basin, and Savannah River) We work with a variety of partners (private landowners, State, NGOs or Federal) on projects that will protect or restore coastal habitats within our designated focus areas.

The vision of the Coastal Program in South Carolina is to be an essential partner in the conservation of fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats in the South Atlantic coastal plain. We are leaders, both within and outside the Service, in the implementation of landscape-scale conservation delivery.

Cooperative Agreements
Spacer

Cooperative Agreements are used by the Coastal Program to legally enter into a partnership and transfer funding. A cooperative agreement is not a grant; rather both parties work together to execute a project. Cooperative agreements are used when there is substantial Federal scientific or programmatic involvement. Substantial involvement means that, after award, scientific or program staff will assist, guide, coordinate, or participate in project activities. A cooperative agreement specifically lists the expectations of the partnership, reporting requirements, and duration of the partnership.
