American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Street Sign

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009, was established via Public Law 111-5, in February 2009. The Recovery Act provides significant new funding for transportation infrastructure.

The Federal Highway Administration, was instrumental in the success of this landmark legislation. Working with out our state partners, we were able to meet the deadline set by Congress to obligate 100 percent of the Recovery Act Funds.

Over $26.6 billion were committed over 12,000 road, highway and bridge projects across the country.

To track and understand the impact of the Recovery Act, check out the Interactive map. As you navigate the map you can see every one of the more than 12,000 Recovery Act projects.
