Congrats to our Office of Early Childhood for their much deserved C-Stat Award!

Division of Early Care & Learning employees worked with counties to substantially increase the use of an automated system of reimbursement for Colorado Child ...Care Assistance Program payments. The result is that child care reimbursements are processed timely and accurately.

C-Stat is the CDHS performance management strategy that tracks approximately 100 measures in real time across all of its programs to create positive outcomes for the people CDHS serves.

This Wednesday is World Suicide Prevention Day. Wear yellow and gray to help us raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention resources.

The national theme for this year’s suicide prevention efforts is connectedness. Everyone is invite...d to help raise suicide awareness by posting photos of their yellow and gray outfits using the hashtags #suicideprevention and #COconnected.

On September 10, people are encouraged to light a candle in a window to raise awareness and remember those lost to suicide, or attend a candle-lighting ceremony from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. at Denver Union Station.

It's is a day to reflect on the important roles grandparents play in their communities and in the lives of children, youth and families. Grandparents Day is also a time to recognize the contributions of kinship caregivers who are providing permanent homes and preserving family connections for children and youth who cannot remain in their biological homes or wit...h other legal custodians.

Across the United States, approximately 7.8 million (or 1 in 12) children and youth live in their grandparents’ homes or other relative headed households.

In Colorado, approximately 34,000 children and youth live in a home where a grandparent or other relative is responsible for their care.

CDHS employees enjoyed a night at the ball game on Friday. Employees brought friends and family to spend time with co-workers outside of the office. Executive Director Reggie Bicha made the rounds thanking employees for coming and meeting their families and friends. The Rockies lost, but the game was still fun! — at Coors Field.

CDHS will have a booth at the event, as will other state agencies, so you can learn more about the work we and others in s...tate government are doing.

Executive Director Reggie Bicha and members of the Executive Management Team will be there. It's for a great cause that supports more than 700 charities aligned with the Colorado Combined Campaign.
