EPA is expanding our partnerships with state health and environmental experts. On April 11, 2016 EPA announced a new partnership with the Environmental Council of States (ECOS, the national association of state environmental agency leaders) and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO, the national association of state chief health officials).
Our Memorandum of Agreement on Public and Environmental Health Initiatives lays out a plan to work even more closely together to share information and advance public health protection in the United States. Since the public health and well-being of U.S. citizens relies on the condition of their physical environment, “[we] intend to collaborate in developing tools, reports, workshops, meetings, communications pathways, and other tangible outcomes and initiatives that will leverage resources and advance [our] mutually shared mission of protecting the public’s health from environmental threats and hazards and advancing health and environmental equity for all citizens.”

EPA researchers and modelers develop environmental tools with one overarching goal: to help solve problems. To ensure the tools and other resources EPA develops are accessible and useful, EPA holds Tools Cafés for specific Agency partners and stakeholders. At these Tools Cafés, we share and demonstrate tools, talk with users and potential users, and solicit feedback to continually improve and update our resources.
