FSA Extends 2017 Margin Protection Program for Dairy Producers (MPP-Dairy) Annual Registration and Coverage Election Deadline

FSA is extending the 2017 MPP-Dairy registration and coverage election deadline to COB December 16, 2016 in an effort to make program improvements that encourage participation and allow dairy producers to make well informed coverage election selections suitable to their operation’s needs.

Dairy operations may continue to register for 2017 coverage under the MPP-Dairy Program which began on July 1, 2016, through COB December 16, 2016.

2016 County Committee Elections

The election of responsible agricultural producers to FSA county committees is important to ALL farmers and ranchers with large or small operations. It is crucial that every eligible producer take part in this election because county committees (COC) are a direct link between the farm community and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Committee members are a critical component of the day-to-day operations of FSA. They help deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Farmers who serve on committees help decide the kind of programs their counties will offer. They work to make FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers.

Celebrating Women in Agriculture

USDA has recently developed a new tool that helps identify the impacts that women have in Agriculture, by State, as well as Nationally. Infographics showing what percentage of women farm in each state and nationally are included in this new tool, as are links to blogs in which powerful stories of women in agriculture are featured. In addition, links are provided to the Women in Agriculture Mentoring Network, where women can connect with other women leaders in agriculture all across the country.

Celebrating 30 Years of Conservation Reserve Program

2015 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Conservation Reserve program (CRP) and in recognition of this milestone; FSA has launched a commemorative website. The web address is www.fsa.usda.gov/CRPis30.

We hope you’ll visit the site often to take an interactive, cross-country tour and see the nationwide impact of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) unfold virtually over the next several months.

Non-insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP)

If you produce a specialty crop that is ineligible for crop insurance, we’ve got an improved program that can help protect against losses from weather and natural disasters.

The Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance program, or NAP, is now available, offering much more than in the past. Previously you were covered at 55 percent of the market price for losses exceeding 50 percent, but now you can cover 65 percent of your crop at 100 percent of the price.

For new, low-income or previously underserved farmers, there is free basic coverage, and higher coverage at discounted premiums.

2014 Farm Bill

The Agricultural Act of 2014 (the Act), also known as the 2014 Farm Bill, was signed by President Obama on Feb. 7, 2014. The Act repeals certain programs, continues some programs with modifications, and authorizes several new programs administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA). Most of these programs are authorized and funded through 2018.

• 12/26/16 - Christmas Day - Offices Closed

Who we are:

The Farm Service Agency is a federal agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Located in all 50 states, our mission is to help American farmers provide reasonably priced food and fiber to the nation and the world.

The Farm Service Agency State Committee in Oregon oversees the activities of the agency. The members are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture each year. They hear appeals from local farmers and guide the direction of agency policy.
