Volunteer Tasks

We rely heavily on volunteers to assist us with many tasks including paddlefish spawning, collection of alligator snapping turtle eggs, monitoring alligator snapping turtle nesting in the wild, and day-to –day tasks such as feeding, monitoring water quality, and cleaning culture units.

National Fisheries Friends Partnership

"Fisheries Friends Groups are non-profit organizations that work in partnership with the Service at National Fish Hatcheries, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Offices and Fish Health and Fish Technology Centers. The NFFP will provide a citizen voice and volunteer assistance with the protection and conservation of national aquatic resources for the benefit of present and future generations at Fisheries Program field stations."

Friends of the Alligator Snapping Turtle (FAST)

FAST is an independent organization dedicated to supporting the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery with the conservation of alligator snapping turtles within its native range. This group focuses on research-oriented partnerships and grants to benefit the alligator snapping turtles through increased information and outreach efforts.

Tishomingo Refuge Ecology and Education Society (TREES)

Tishomingo Refuge Ecology and Education Society (TREES) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the conservation of natural resources on the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge and the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery.
