Volunteer Tasks

The assistance from our Friends Group and volunteers in our fish culture work and promoting the Service programs has been invaluable. Their many hours of labor for the hatchery and service programs provide a significant boost to what and how we promote our programs and amenities. Each person provides her or her expertise to differing areas to assist in fish culture activities, improving or creating wildlife habitat, recreation, environmental education, maintenance, or administration duties around the hatchery. Many from the Friends Group and volunteers just enjoy giving back to the children, adults, clubs, and organizations that come to Inks Dam NFH to see what, and why we do the things we do.

National Fisheries Friends Partnership

"Fisheries Friends Groups are non-profit organizations that work in partnership with the Service at National Fish Hatcheries, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Offices and Fish Health and Fish Technology Centers. The NFFP will provide a citizen voice and volunteer assistance with the protection and conservation of national aquatic resources for the benefit of present and future generations at Fisheries Program field stations."

Friends of the Inks Dam NFH

The Friends of the Inks Dam NFH work on numerous projects throughout the year as well as provide support and assistance with outreach events and tours. In 2011 the Friends Group worked over 1000 hours to complete the restoration of the building that is now used as our Environmental Education Center.
