Storm Water Awareness

a rain barrel is used to collect rooftop runoff using a gutter/downspout system.Citizens can play a big role in helping to reduce Storm Water pollution. The first step is to understand what Storm Water pollution is. Click on this link Public Education and learn more about Storm Water and take a few of the challenges to test your overall knowledge.

Now that you have a better understanding of what Storm Water Pollution is, what can you do to help reduce this pollution? This link Public Participation will take you to the site to review the many things you can do around your home to reduce Storm Water pollution.

The NHDES developed the Homeowner's Guide to Stormwater Management. This link is to the manual.  The guide i intended to help homeowners with stormwater solutions that they can do themselves.

The City is responsible for finding any illegal discharges to the storm drain system that pollute the water ways. This link Illicit Discharge will explain to you what process the City takes to try to locate where these discharges are coming from. There is a list of suspicious things that a resident can observe to give you an idea of what an illicit discharge can consist of the next time you look down a storm drain on your street.
