The Water Table: New England-style Tavern and Dinner Boat Coming to Greenpoint

Via:

The Water Table is Brooklyn’s very first dinner boat! Founded by Captain Kelli Farwell, formally of Rye, Dumont, Craft and Gramercy Tavern, it’s a New England style restaurant on the water. For a fixed price, guests of The Water Table will enjoy a three-hour cruise originating at one of the many new piers opening in Greenpoint, and a selection of two of our classic dishes, such as lobster rolls, oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, and delicious veggies, whipped up by our on-board chef. Enjoy classic craft cocktails mixed by our bartender, or try one of our selection of amazing New England craft beers or seasonal wine selections.

While Captain Farwell steams the boat around New York Harbor, you’ll be enjoying quality food and drinks, and drifting away with the gorgeous views of the city that we all love. Grab a date or some friends to join one of two nightly dinner tours!

They need some help launching this thing. Find out how you can help (and win free dinners) here.

“Girls” Reality Show Casting Call (We Can Only Hope It’s Fake)

We love the show, but this is too much. From Craigslist via Jezebel:

Ever feel like life in the big frantic city is just too much? Are you a twenty-something young woman seeking fame, fortune, love or even a hookup with potential? How do you get from here to there when you can’t even get a seat on the L train! Come to a casting call with our Emmy-winning production company and tell us your dreams and woes, your highs and lows, your tales of *** in the city and the outrageous opportunities that have come your way. Is your circle of friends bound together by not just the parties, fights, and brunches but frequent bouts of commiserating over your struggles? It isn’t easy taking the road less travelled, but making it as a writer, designer, entrepreneur, actress/model or glorified dog walker never is!

The real life television show we are making follows the trials and tribulations of an ensemble of wise-beyond-their-years young ladies. We are with you living the dream in hipster Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. Only well educated and cultured extroverts need apply. Are you thinking about that show—”Girls?” Well we didn’t say it but. . ..now that you mention it.

Someone Got Hit By The L At Bedford Ave. This Morning

Via DNA:

The unidentified victim was struck by the Canarsie-bound train about 7:40 a.m. in the station at Bedford Avenue and North Seventh Street, an FDNY spokesman said.

“I was on the train and when it stopped the doors didn’t open and the conductor guy said somebody was on the tracks,” said Kirk Anderson, a construction worker who was on his way to work. “The people outside on the platform were saying that somebody jumped.”

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he’s expected to recover, cops said.

Police said it appears the man jumped into the path of the oncoming train, but they are still investigating the incident.

“I’ve heard about this happening, but it has never happened with me before,” Anderson added. “It’s very crazy and it’s happening a lot lately.”

Watch Michael K. Williams channel ODB on stage at Brooklyn Bowl

Footage of proud Williamsburg resident and actor Michael K. Williams hopping on stage at Brooklyn Bowl during a Sandy relief concert last month has just emerged. The man known for his incredible performance as Omar on HBO’s The Wire gave a high energy performance of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Brooklyn Zoo. Not coincidentally Williams will also be channeling ODB in the forthcoming film Dirty White Boy. Last year Michael K. Williams spoke to MTV about the task of portraying ODB:

“I am doing a lot of research on Russell,” Williams said recently on the set of the upcoming short film “They Die by Dawn.” “I had the pleasure of meeting his beautiful mother, Ms. Cherry. We sat down for, like, three hours, and she told me the most amazing stuff about her son and a lot of things that the public didn’t know. I’ve been talking to people who know him well … people who knew him when the cameras weren’t rolling,” Williams said. “I’ve got a lot of insight into who he was as a human being and as a man and, dare I say it, scholar. The dude was quite smart. You have to be able to recite mathematics and be 5 percent of god body — you can’t play with that. You have to know what you’re talking about. It’s a lot of studying, a lot of knowledge.”

Spider Bags – Tonight at Cameo Gallery

Spider Bags’ 2012 release “Shake My Head” was grossly underrated. We blame their HORRIBLE name. Still, this North Carolina-based garage band put out one of our favorite records of 2012. Catch them tonight at Cameo in Williamsburg.
