2016 Year in Review

With 2016 coming to an end, we look back to reflect on NCA’s work this year and appreciate how our efforts both big and small are creating a cleaner and more vibrant Newtown Creek for years to come. Here are some of the highlights:We report sources of pollution, prevent new pollution, and support investments in green infrastructure, bioremediation, and habitat restoration. We nurture and expand open spaces along Newtown Creek to enable public access.

North Henry Street Planning

In 2016, the Newtown Creek Alliance developed a plan to transform the end of North Henry Street into an accessible and ecologically beneficial shoreline. Located on the ‘No Name’ tributary of Newtown Creek, the site consists of 20,000 square feet of city-owned land and degraded shoreline. Our vision would offer open space, public access to the water, an ecologically vibrant shoreline and an opportunity to reduce storm water runoff to the creek.
