Detailed information: The DNR is moving quickly to develop an emergency rule to increase fishing opportunities for lake trout in Lake Michigan. A scoping statement for the emergency rule and a possible permanent rule were approved by the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board in December. The DNR will use angler feedback gathered at this January meeting to develop specific language for an emergency rule. Stakeholders also can submit comments until Feb. 8 via DNRLAKEMICHIGANPLAN@wisconsin.gov.

Detailed information: Aerial spraying to control gypsy moth caterpillars is planned for 246 acres at Devil's Lake State Park this spring. The spraying will be done in order to reduce gypsy moth populations and prevent the caterpillars from defoliating trees in the treatment area. The spraying will occur sometime between the middle of May and early June, depending on weather conditions and caterpillar development.
