Precipitation was highly variable during the first half of June.
Depending on the location, the first two weeks of June were quite wet or quite dry. Departures at the 35 airport climate sites ranged from 37 percent of normal in Rochester, NY, up to 257 percent of normal in Charleston, WV. Much of the rain fell during thunderstorms, some of which brought tornadoes, large hail, and flash flooding.
Temperatures have been above normal for most of the region so far this June.
Much of the Northeast was warmer than normal during the first half of June, with 32 airport climate sites seeing above-normal temperatures. Northern sites, such as Burlington VT, and Caribou, ME, had the greatest departures.
