From January through May, precipitation has been near to slightly below normal.
After four months of below normal precipitation totals, most of the Northeast saw abundant rainfall in May, bringing the accumulated amounts closer to normal in all but a few areas. The region is in good shape, drought-wise, according to the most recent U.S. Drought Monitor.
