Direct Observations of Climate
- The National Weather Service COOP network is a
group of human observers that take once daily observations. These
observations are made at roughly 7 AM for the past 24 hour period.
So the High Temperature reported is often from the previous day.
Computed Observations of Climate
- The automated sensors located at the airports report observations
roughly each hour. The IEM collects this information and then calculates
summary values.
