Lower Rappahannock River, VA, Benthic Habitat Characterization

This project was conducted in 2007 near White Stone and Locklies, Virginia. Mapping data were collected with side-scan sonar, a single-beam acoustic seabed classification system, and a sediment grab. Acoustic and grab data were integrated to create benthic habitat polygons. Spatial data products created by the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office have been used to support native oyster restoration and other resource assessments.
