News
News and stories about the Halocarbons and other Atmospheric Traces Gases group.
What are CFCs?
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are nontoxic, nonflammable chemicals containing atoms of carbon, chlorine, and fluorine.
What are HCFCs?
Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) are compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, chlorine and fluorine.
What are HFCs?
Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, and fluorine, and are substitutes for CFCs and HCFCs.
What are Halons?
Halons are compounds containing carbon, bromine and fluorine atoms, and are generally used as fire fighting agents.
Collaborations
List of collaborators that the Hats group works with, and has worked with in the past.
Ocean Measurements
Historical information on ocean cruise measurements made between 1987 and 2001.
Instrumentation
The HATS Group has designed and constructed gas chromatographic systems used in the measurement of trace gases in the atmosphere.
Safety Program
General laboratory safety and proper care and handling of Electron Capture Detectors
