Communications provides a wide range of services to support all staff at NCAR and UCAR as you interact with colleagues and the world at large. Here are a few examples.
Outreach planning and communications strategy
Talk with us first! We can help with outreach and publicity essentials, such as targeting your audience, refining your group's identity, honing your content strategy, choosing the best channels (from brochures to video to websites to social media) and other possibilities.
Contact Yvonne Mondragon(ext. 8601) to get started.
Media relations
When the phone rings and a reporter or producer is on the line, a best practice is to ask the caller what their deadline is and assure them that someone will get back to them. Then call us for assistance.
We also like to hear about upcoming research, publications, events, or projects that might be of interest to the media—the sooner the better!
Contact David Hosansky (ext. 8611).
Multimedia: Photos, videos, illustrations and animations
We have thousands of high-resolution images portraying people, places, weather, and climate for use by staff, journalists, and the public in a variety of print, video, and electronic formats. We've uploaded over 2,500 photos to our Digital Image LIbrary, and we have even more available on request.
• For self service, browse the Digital Image Library
• Contact Carlye Calvin (ext. 8609) to obtain additional images or schedule a photo shoot.
Writing Style Guide
Our online style guide answers hundreds of questions, such as when to use a hyphen and whether it's Kelvins or kelvin.
