About NEWA

Our mission is to deliver weather information and apps based on the weather collected that support and advance integrated pest management (IPM) and best management practices for agricultural and green industries. Our vision is that NEWA will become the source for weather-related information for the IPM practitioner in the Northeast.

NEWA was formed in 1995 and continues to evolve to stay current with advances in pest and weather forecasting. It is operated by and funded through the NYS IPM Program. Today, NEWA partners with the Northeast Regional Climate Center to deliver weather data and pest forecasts from over 300 sites in the USA. More NEWA History...

There are over 20 weather-based IPM forecast tools in NEWA. More tools are added when developed and validated; based on published research.

NEWA Weather Stations

NEWA uses RainWise Inc. weather stations. The NEWA RainWise stations record temperature, leaf wetness, relative humidity, precipitation, solar radiation, wind speed and direction. Optional sensors can be added. For more information:
