Allen Jordan

Job Description:

Allen Jordan's primary responsibilities are writing software and designing/building instrumentation for weather balloon research. He develops the SkySonde suite of balloon telemetry and post-processing software, designs and lays out circuit boards for the NOAA Frostpoint Hygrometer (FPH) and other instruments, and writes microcontroller firmware. Allen is also involved in remote field research during campaigns.

Bio:

Allen has a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Metropolitan State University of Denver, graduating summa cum laude in 2008. He started working at NOAA as a high school student in 2002 and continued as a student until being hired full time after college. He has worked mainly for the Ozone and Water Vapor group creating, processing, and plotting data from various instruments and models before starting to work more in the Water Vapor lab designing and building balloon instruments and accompanying software. To date, Allen has been a coauthor of 13 peer-reviewed publications and first author of a NOAA technical memorandum. He has received the CIRES Outstanding Performance Award (May 2013) and several NASA group achievement awards.
