Welcome to the GOES Experimental High Density Winds Page, Maintained by the Operational Products Development Branch (OPDB), Office of Research and Applications (ORA), NOAA/NESDIS (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service). Science methodologies for the derivation of the high density wind estimates from GOES satellite data are developed jointly by the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and NOAA/NESDIS/ORA in Washington, DC.
