On October 10, 2014, Vice President Joe Biden visited the Department of Energy's headquarters in Washington, D.C., to swear in our new Deputy Secretary, Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall.

Speaking to Dr. Sherwood-Randall, the Vice President remarked: "You've already made the country better and you've improved the circumstances of the world. ... I'm confident that you're going to continue to do much more as Deputy Secretary of Energy."

After being sworn in, Deputy Secretary Sherwood-Randall addressed employees and contractors gathered in the Forrestal Auditorium, as well as those watching online. "Making America stronger and safer is our mission. I'm looking forward to shining a light on the good work that you've done -- and that we'll to do together -- every day for the benefit of the American people," Deputy Secretary Sherwood-Randall said. "Let's get to work."
