TRB Social Media Efforts: Usage of Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn
TRB uses Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to help our audience stay connected to transportation research. Social media also helps TRB to better understand how its reports and products are being used.
TRB’s Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ pages disseminate information related to all of TRB’s subject areas. TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program’s (ACRP) LinkedIn group allows its members to share opinions, comments, and remarks on specific ACRP publications.
The following information summarizes the usage and policy of TRB’s Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn pages:
TRB Usage of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+
TRB will update Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ on Monday through Friday during normal business hours. We do not post on holidays observed by the National Academies.
Normally, we will post 2-10 tweets per day and 3-5 Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ updates per week. Posts will discuss products and meetings related to TRB and the National Academies and other news related to transportation.
We encourage our followers to send us comments and suggestions through Twitter and Facebook. TRB will review all @replies, direct messages, and posts on our social media channels. We will attempt to respond to as many messages as possible; however, we may not be able to reply to all messages that we receive. We will forward comments to an appropriate TRB staff member, if necessary.
The list below includes items that we will post about on our social networking sites:
- Conferences, webinars, and meetings sponsored or co-sponsored by TRB
- TRB Annual Meeting updates prior to and during the meeting
- TRB Publications: New reports or old reports that relate to current news stories or congressional hearings
- Videos created by TRB or related to transportation themes
- Photos from TRB events
- TRB Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information, Research Problem Statements
- News: national or international transportation stories and TRB in the news
- Items related to transportation history, research, or electronic resources related to transportation
Who will TRB follow or mention on Twitter?
TRB will follow individuals and organizations that dedicate their sites to information about transportation. Being followed, re-tweeted, or mentioned on a Follow Friday (#FF) by TRB does not imply endorsement of any kind. The opinions expressed in items re-tweeted on TRB's Twitter page are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Transportation Research Board or the National Academies.

Comments of an inappropriate nature that may be deleted by TRB include:

The opinions expressed by those who post comments on TRB's social media pages are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of TRB or the National Academies.
ACRP’s LinkedIn Group
ACRP established a LinkedIn discussion group to facilitate the ability for airport industry professionals to share opinions, comments, and remarks about specific ACRP publications.
Announcements, solicitations, and innovations in the program are shared with the LinkedIn group. Since members of this LinkedIn group provide ACRP with access to their resumes, ACRP may approach individuals for project panel assignments if the program is unable to satisfy panel requirements from the nominations received for a particular project.
The ACRP Manager moderates the conversations that occur within the ACRP LinkedIn group.
To become a member of the ACRP LinkedIn group, please sign in or register an account with LinkedIn. Then, visit the “ACRP - Airport Cooperative Research Program” group page and select “Join Group” to send a request to become a member of the group. Requests to join the group are reviewed and vetted by the ACRP Manager.
