OMAO administers the NOAA fleet of ships & aircraft and trains divers to safely facilitate Earth observation.

Platform Acquisition

The Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) Platform Acquisitions Division (PAD) provides an array of technical support and engineering services to the OMAO. The division is responsible for directing acquisitions, including major systems acquisition as well as keeping abreast of the ever-changing ship, aircraft, avionics, electronics and sonar technology. PAD also directs research vessel acquisition programs, develops upgrade and modernization plans, and works with other OMAO divisions and NOAA line office counterparts to identify system and budget requirements.
