2017 Black History Month Lecture Series

Gibbs, noted author and researcher, who will present a series of lectures at several DC Public Libraries throughout the month of February in honor of Black History Month.  All presentations will begin at 7:00 p.m.  "Crossing the Rubicon: The Battle for Black Public Education in the District of Columbia"

Free Summer Meals for Kids and Teens

DC Public Library is participating in the 2016 Free Summer Meals Program.   Kids and teens eat free lunch on weekdays from July 5 – August 12. No registration is required.   Lunch will be provided Monday – Friday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the following library locations:   Anacostia – 1800 Good Hope Road, SE

Self Defense Class During Women's History Month

In celebration of Women's History Month, a self defense class will be taught at Benning Neighborhood Library on Tuesday, March 15, from 6-8 p.m. This two hour session will be led by D'Angelo Kinard of Advanced Sports Performance and will teach basic self defense techniques to use in various situations. There will be an emphasis on defending against larger/stronger assailants. A waiver must be signed by each participant before class to participate.
