Office of Marine and Avation Operation (OMAO) Health Services has overall responsibility and authority for the administration and delivery of high quality health care services to NOAA Corps officers, wage marine employees, aircraft operations personnel, and other personnel embarked aboard NOAA vessels and aircraft. Staffed by U.S. Public Health Service commissioned officers, OMAO Health Services is the TRICARE point-of-contact for the agency. The staff work to minimize medically related disruptions to fleet and aircraft operations and maintains programs for the prevention and control of disease, assessing the medical needs/problems of individuals, and the effects of ship and aircraft environments and destinations on those individuals. Treatment and care of sick and injured personnel on land, in the air, and at sea is provided for, from routine health concerns to emergency evacuation and follow-up.
