Learning Office
The Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) Learning Office oversees employee learning, development, and training programs to support mission readiness. The focus of the Learning Office is to ensure standardized processes, application of best practices, transparency in training programs, equitable opportunity for employees, and compliance with NOAA, Department of Commerce (DOC) and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) guidance across OMAO.
Working as a partner with Marine Operations, Aircraft Operations, the Commissioned Personnel Center, the NOAA Diving Program, and OMAO headquarters staff, the Learning Office is tasked with directing the development of the OMAO Annual Training Plan to identify training priorities and supporting the budgeting process. In addition, the Learning Office develops and conducts team building and leadership training for NOAA Corps officers, Wage Mariners, and OMAO civilians. OMAO operations require employees to continually learn new processes, technologies, and scientific advances.
The Learning Office is based at the National Weather Service Training Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Training resources for OMAO and NOAA personnel may be found on the Commerce Learning Center website (secure log-in required) and within the OMAO Intranet under Learning, Development, and Training (@noaa.gov log-in required).
