Higher than average rainfall for the first months of 2012 has brought a bumper crop of wildflowers to the Texas landscape.

Hurricane Ike hit the Gulf Coast of Texas on Sept. 13, 2008, flooding Galveston. Its 110-mile-per-hour hurricane-force winds brought down 50-foot-tall trees and flooded coastal areas. An electrical delivery system in the direct path of Ike went down, resulting in the largest power outage in Texas history.
