Predictions for wildland fire potential over the current and coming months, updated on the first of the month by the National Interagency Fire Center.
National Interagency Fire Center
The Center maintains a collection of current information and maps about fire risks and occurrences: outlooks for the current month, the month following and a seasonal look at the two months beyond that, as well as the potential for fire over the next seven days. Regional products include daily reports and webcast briefings.
Keetch Byram Drought Index
The Keetch-Byram Drought Index assesses the risk of fire by representing the net effect of evapotranspiration and precipitation in producing cumulative moisture deficiency in deep duff and upper soil layers. The index ranges from zero, the point of no moisture deficiency, to 800, the maximum drought that is possible.
NWS National Fire Weather Page
Interactive map of the U.S. provides national, regional and local fire weather data. It includes outlooks for today, tomorrow and 3-8 days out.
