Congressman Darren Soto Announces the Hiring of Four Senior Staff
Washington D.C.- Congressman Darren Soto (FL-09) is proud to announce the hiring of his senior staff team. His hires bring years of experience and diverse backgrounds. “District 9 deserves the best, and I am confident my team has the strong credentials and experience needed to effectively serve the people of Central Florida,” said Congressman Soto.
MEET THE SENIOR STAFF:
Christine Biron – Chief of Staff:
Christine has long experience serving the people of Central Florida. Over the last decade, she has been Legislative Assistant in Congressman Soto’s State House and Senate offices. A Floridian since childhood and graduate of the Florida State University, she has been his chief advisor, managing his first successful campaign and every one since.
Alex Barrio – District Director:
Alex has served the people of Central Florida over the last decade, first as Soto’s Florida House District Secretary, and then as a Legislative Analyst in the Florida Senate Democratic Caucus. He was also Political Director for SEIU Local 1991. A longtime Floridian, Alex is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (B.A. in Political Science) and the Florida International University College of Law.
Mike Nichola – Legislative Director:
Mike has served the people of Central Florida for over a decade. Most recently, he was Legislative Director for former Congressman Alan Grayson, drafting more than 50 pieces of legislation that were approved by the House. A Floridian since childhood, Mike is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, the Florida A&M University College of Law, and a member of the Florida Bar.
Iza Montalvo – Press Secretary:
Iza has worked to inform, educate, and serve the people of Central Florida for over 12 years. She served as Congressman Grayson's press secretary and as a media consultant for Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign before working as the communications director for Soto’s congressional campaign. An award-winning journalist, she was the Editor of La Prensa, and a reporter for El Diario, El Nuevo Día, and The Ledger, and a news producer for Univisión. In 2015, Iza was also named one of Central Florida’s most influential Hispanics. She is a graduate of St. John’s University (B.S. in Journalism).
