National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration just announced that 2016 was the hottest year on record, surpassing the previous records set in 2015 and 2014. Yesterday, the independent and nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that repealing the Affordable Care Act would take away health insurance from 32 million people and cause insurance premiums to double over a ten-year period.

This weekend, I joined Senator Chris Van Hollen and the Maryland Delegation at the National Day of Action Rally to save our health care and stop the Republican plan to #MakeAmericaSickAgain.

85 YEARS AGO TODAY, Hattie Caraway became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate, paving the way for iconic Senators like U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski. Today, the Senate has more women serving in the chamber than ever before. But with women only representing 21 of 100 Senate seats, we still have more work to do.
