Jefferson High Student to Play Football at West Point
01/16/17The United States Military Academy at West Point has offered admission to Jefferson High School's Zack Boobas. Congressman Collins nominated Boobas for West Point and had the privilege of notifying him of his acceptance on Saturday. Army has recruited the Nicholson native, who has excelled as a running back, safety, and punter, to play football there. Boobas is also the captain of Jefferson's varsity football team and a member of the baseball and wrestling teams.

Collins and Grassley Introduce Sunshine Act to Curb Backdoor Rulemaking
01/12/17Today Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) introduced H.R. 469, the Sunshine for Regulatory Decrees and Settlements Act while Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa introduced a companion bill, S. 119, in the Senate. The Sunshine Act inhibits the ability of federal agencies to participate in back-door sue-and-settle arrangements with special interest groups, which circumvent established regulatory processes.

North Forsyth Students to Attend Naval Academy
01/10/17"Northeast Georgia continues to produce some of the finest young men and women in the country, and it's an honor for me to support these students as they seek to attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Gainesville Times: Friendship Elementary gets visit from film industry leaders
08/18/15A green wine bottle smashes into the back of U.S. Rep. Doug Collins' head, and a room full of children burst into laughter. The bottle is a "sugar-glass" prop, used in movies. Collins and several film industry leaders visited Friendship Elementary School in South Hall County to show off a few props and discuss the wide variety of careers in the field. "Every person I see in here, every one of you, is an amazing, amazing person, because you have the capacity to think, to dream and to take yourself anywhere in the world," Collins said to a room of third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students.
