  4. Earlier today I took the oath of office for the 113th Congress. We have a lot of tough challenges ahead, but I’m excited for the opportunity to fix our out-of-control spending problem and put our country back on the right track. I appreciate all of the feedback that you’ve given me on this page and look forward to your guidance in the weeks and months ahead.
  5. Congratulations to Sharon Decker of Rutherford County on her appointment as NC Secretary of Commerce! I look forward to working with Secretary Decker to improve our economy here in western North Carolina.
  6. Last night I voted against the fiscal cliff deal because it did nothing to address our spending problem. In fact, it actually increased spending by $330 billion. Leaders in Washington have to get serious about cutting spending if we're going to save programs like Medicare and Social Security for future generations and avert the looming debt crisis.
  7. Twas the night before Christmas,
    when all through the House

    Not a creature was stirring,
    not even a mouse...

Hope to get back to Washington soon to stop the looming tax hikes. Until then, here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
