Item: Get the latest News and Updates RSS Feeds (LNMs, LL Corrections)
Item: The unclassified paper Best Practices for Improving the Operation and Development of GPS Equipment Used by Critical Infrastructure, co-authored by the National Cybersecurity & and Communications Integration Center, and National Coordinating Center for Communication, is available for download. The 21-page document recommends installation and operation strategies to improve the resilience of equipment receiving. 
Item: A leap second will be applied to Coordinated Universal Time on 31 December 2016.  To be fully prepared, please read the "Best Practices for Leap Second Event Occurring on 31 December 2016" document, sponsored by the DHS's National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center in coordination with the U.S. Naval Observatory, National Institute of Standards and Technology, the USCG Navigation Center, and the National Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing.
Item: The International Telecommunications Union has amended the VHF maritime radio channel numbering scheme which will affect 18 channels used in the U.S.  New VHF radios will eventually begin using this scheme.  Changes to U.S. channel numbers are shown on our U.S. VHF Channels page.
Item: In collaboration with the Department of Transportation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Coast Guard has reduced number of Differential GPS sites throughout the country, while maintaining coverage in major maritime ports and waterways. Item: A continuing series of incidents have been reported in the general location of Incheon, Republic of Korea and the surrounding Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces out to approximately 100 nautical miles beginning on or about 0000Z31March16.  For more information, please read the U.S. State Department Notice.

The current aids to navigation design framework needs to be updated to take into account technology advances that allow for better positioning and increased marine information.  Therefore, the Coast Guard will review the national levels of service provided to the mariner by the U.S. Aids to Navigation System (USATONS).  To determine the appropriate aids to navigation lay down, we must take a systematic and holistic approach that considers stakeholder input, environmental considerations, channel framework, user capabilities, training and carriage, available technology, and available resources.  Please assist us by providing your input to a Seacoast Waterways Analysis Management Survey.
Item: The final GPS IIF satellite has joined the GPS constellation; the Air Force 50th Space Wing recently accepted satellite control authority of the final Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF satellite from the GPS Directorate.  Read the full article at the Shriever U.S. Air Force Base website.
