Located within the Spatial Data Branch of the Mobile District, the Survey Section has a long history of providing contracted surveying and mapping services for the US Army Corps of Engineers and other government agencies. From airborne lidar projects in the Philippines to GIS implementation in Europe, the Mobile District’s survey and mapping contractors have the capability to span the globe.

If your organization or agency has surveying and mapping needs, feel free to contact us. We have the technical expertise to scope and specify the project, obtain an estimate, negotiate a fair price, administer the task order, and provide quality assurance (QA) on the deliverables . . . all done quickly and efficiently thanks to the resources we have in place.

What is Surveying?

Surveying is the technique and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional space position of points and the distances and angles between them. These points are usually, but not exclusively, associated with positions on the surface of the Earth, and they are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes. In order to accomplish their objective, surveyors use elements of geometry, engineering, trigonometry, mathematics, physics, and law.

Services

Survey servicesThe Mobile District's Survey Section supports USACE, DOD (Department of Defense), NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), DOE (Department of Energy), NGS (Nationial Geodetic Survey), and other departments and agencies with the administration of IDIQ (Infinite Delivery/Infinite Quantity) survey contracts.

The survey and mapping services we provide include boundary, topographic, hydrographic, terrestrial lidar, multispectral and hyperspectral aerial imagery collection, and airborne topographic and bathymetric lidar acquisition. A listing of the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) services we provide includes project-level GIS implementation, development of file-based geodatabases, and GIS tool development. Our contractors have years of experience working on USACE civil projects as well as supporting MILCON (Military Construction) operations on military facilities throughout the United States.
