USGS 28-day average streamflow maps show drought conditions continuing to expand from the mountains to the Piedmont areas, with Georgia taking the brunt of the rainfall deficit. The NOAA 3-month precipitation outlook predicts the parched conditions to creep further into the Carolina Piedmont and Coastal Plains, as well as South Georgia. National Weather Service 60 Day Rainfall Totals and NOAA Three Month Rainfall OutlookHurricane Matthew Information PortalThe USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC) deployed most of the USGS Storm-Tide Network along the Atlantic coast to monitor the timing, extent, and magnitude of the storm tide during the passage of Hurricane Matthew. This data is available from a web application portal at http://stn.wim.usgs.gov/fev/#MatthewOctober2016. After the Storm - Hurricane Matthew and the FloodsIn the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, USGS crews have been collecting the record number of storm-tide sensors deployed prior to the storm and are now determining high water marks, collecting water quality samples, and assessing the impacts of storm surge on south eastern beaches caused by erosion, overwash and inundation.
