- The library was established in 1961 with the founding of the Sandy Hook, NJ, US Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, Atlantic Game Fish Laboratory which later became the James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory.

- Research resources primarily feature marine ecology, chemistry, microbiology, coastal and estuarine organisms and the effects of human activities on nearshore marine populations. More Info...
