  1. Nice article! I was a viewer and was very sad to see them leave. However, life goes on and new challenges and experiences will come to all.

  2. It’s necessary the renew the programs on TV Spanish Show. The host of “Sabado Gigante” did many errors with some employee, for example “The former man of the Trumpet” that life in Chile spoke about discrimination with him during many years ago. I think that he never was a person with transparency in your long life. He was a civil problem in a Court Room in Chile a few years ago with a presumptive son there and the results of the ADN and using money for a relative in order to have a negative results. It’s the history that we know from the news.

    • To Lic Pierre Millet: You are missing the point. Despite any personal flaws that he may have, “Don Francisco” was a character that had a TV show that lasted for 53 years and reached millions of people all over the world. He is the best person to communicate to the Spanish-speaking public and carry the mission to them about Social Security. I am glad that the leadership of the Social Security Administration chose him to reach out to all Spanish-speaking people with information regarding the benefits of Social Security.

    • Lic Pierre Millet, I agree with Sandra, you are totally missing the point. Social Security Administration chose Don Fransisco because he is a huge Hispanic figure in the United States T.V. and around the world. He has always represented and have been a big part of the Hispanic communities as well, and regardless of his personal problems, he has touched many hearts of Hispanics, Americans, and many other cultures, but the human factor of some individuals, always have to bring in the personal problems of others and the negative energy to try to take down those that are highly recognized as model people. Social Security is meaning something else such retirement benefits that are available for the Hispanic community as well and the agency is encouraging those Hispanics that qualify, to apply for the Social Security benefits, to apply because Hispanics in this country have the right to apply for benefits if they qualify, but you cannot Lic Pierre Millet, understand the fact, hope you get it soon, have a great day and enjoy September, “the Hispanic Heritage Month”

    • Thank you for your question Dennis. Our system is set up to take applications three months in advance. You can now apply online, when you are ready, you can complete the online application for Social Security retirement benefits in as little as 15 minutes. Processing your application is quick and payments are set up within days after the information you provide is verified, and your application is approved.
Remember that benefits are paid the month after they are due. So, for instance, if your benefits begin with the month of October, you will receive your first benefit payment in November. The exact payment date is determined by your date of birth. For future pay dates, check out the schedule of Social Security benefit payment calendar.
We also advise people to file for Medicare benefits three months before age 65 – even if you plan to continue working. For more information about applying for Medicare only and delaying retirement benefits, visit Applying for Medicare Only – Before You Decide.
In the meantime, you can create a my Social Security account to review estimates of your retirement, disability, and survivors benefits, your earnings record, and the estimated Social Security and Medicare taxes you’ve paid. Happy planning !

  6. Why do you have a black mother and child in the masthead for email. Couldn’t you at least change it and have it rotate to show White people, Asian people, Hispanic people, etc.? I suppose Blacks are the only ones that matters to the Social Security Administration.

  7. Really George! If there were white people would you have made that comment? Look beyond the color and utilize the important information provided. That is the purpose of the website. Maybe you just look at the pictures.

    • We’re pleased we can help. We will continue our efforts to meet your expectations in the years to come. Thank you for using our electronic services and our blog to communicate with us !

    • Hi Yolanda. If you continue receiving disability benefits under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program, we will automatically convert your disability benefits to retirement benefits, when you attain your Full Retirement Age. You do not have to apply. The benefit amount will generally remain the same.

  8. When applying for benefits, you would like a 3 month window, once the application is finalized & approved does the benefit payout begin after the approval or is it retroactive to the original date of the application?

    Thanks Bobby
