Fermilab is America's premier particle physics laboratory. Collaborating with scientists from around the world, we perform pioneering research, operate world-leading particle accelerators and experiments, and develop technologies for science in support of U.S. industry.
The awards highlight the key role that the administration places in encouraging and accelerating American innovation to grow our economy and tackle our greatest challenges.
Many visitors to Fermilab reasonably conclude from its name that Enrico Fermi worked at the laboratory, but he never did. He died in 1954, years before scientists recommended the construction of a U.S. accelerator laboratory.
