Offices Reporting to the Director General

There are five Offices Reporting to the IAEA Director General: the Office for Coordination, the Secretariat of the Policy-Making Organs, the Office of Internal Oversight Services, the Office of Legal Affairs and the Office of Public Information and Communication.

  • Secretariat of Policy-Making Organs

    The objectives of the Secretariat of the Policy-Making Organs is to enable the Policy-Making Organs - the General Conference and the Board of Governors - to effectively perform their statutory responsibilities and their other functions and to ensure that all meetings of the Policy-Making Organs are conducted efficiently.   • Director General's Office for Coordination

    The Director General's Office for Coordination is responsible for a number of functions that are essential to support the Director General in performing his responsibilities. These include providing overall policy coordination, external relations with Member States and stakeholders, policy planning and strategy, as well as coordinating the activities of the New York and Geneva offices, which liaise with the United Nations and its agencies.   • Office of Internal Oversight Services

    The Office provides objective, independent and systematic assessments, helping the IAEA to efficiently and effectively carry out its mandate and ensure accountability and sound governance. It regularly conducts audits and evaluations of the Agency's programmes, activities and processes. Read more →

  • Office of Legal Affairs

    The Office of Legal Affairs provides comprehensive legal services to the IAEA Director General, Secretariat, Policy-Making Organs and Member States to ensure that the Agency conducts its activities in accordance with applicable legal rules. It also performs depositary functions for many multilateral treaties and offers legislative assistance to Member States. Read more →

  • Office of Public Information and Communication

    The Office of Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments to foster public understanding of the IAEA's global roles. The Office also provides advice to the Director General on his relations with the media and organizes his press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the Agency and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences. Read more →
