CPO’s programs are seeking applications for 7 individual competitions in FY 2017 for an estimated $10 million available and approximately 100 new awards pending budget appropriations. It is anticipated that most awards will be at a funding level between $50,000 and $300,000 per year, with some exceptions for larger awards. A multimedia report is now available for the 2015 El Niño Conference held November 17-18, 2015 in Palisades, NY. NOAA's Climate Program Office co-sponsored this conference, in partnership with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

NOAA's Climate Program Office released its FY15 Annual Report on March 11, 2016. The report gives an overview of CPO's achievements  in FY15 and highlights the great work done by the Office's Divisions and Programs to advance scientific understanding of climate and improve society's ability to plan and respond to a changing climate.

NOAA's Climate Program Office (CPO) is co-sponsoring an international conference on El Niño 2015, Shared Experiences: 20 Years of Climate Services and Framing the Next Steps in the Research and Development for Climate Resilience.

The Climate Program Office is working closely with USAID and OSTP on the U.S.-initiated public-private partnership on Climate Services for Resilient Development (CSRD), which was originally announced by President Obama during the September 2014 UN Climate Summit.
